Makeover Process

The kitchen is the engine room of your home. I ensure makeover projects run smoothly, with minimal disruption to your kitchen function and general household operations while achieving a stunning update.

Makeover Process for Existing Kitchens

1

Initial Consultation

We meet up at your home and I assess the potential of your existing kitchen. I take into account the age and condition of the cabinetry, the functionality and layout, the flooring - and of course - what you want to achieve.

We’ll discuss design options, replacement of doors, panels and stone benchtops and consider replacing splash-backs and new accessories such as sinks, tapware, and handles.

I measure up your existing kitchen and we discuss everything from appliances to new cabinetry to improve storage and function.  Sometimes even the smallest of upgrades can make a huge difference to how a kitchen works and feels.

2

Design & Proposal

Each makeover project is different, but they often need to move swiftly, especially for homes going to market. I have a comprehensive knowledge of available products with many samples on hand, and the practical know-how for the cabinetry options that will work best for your space.

Often, many of the design choices can be made at the initial consultation, allowing us to fast track to the proposal and project costing stage. All proposals clearly detail products and services supplied by Lovett Design and project costs.

Packages include design, supply, install and coordination.

3

Products & Materials Selection

Once the proposal is accepted, the speed of the transformation depends on the pace at which you can make decisions!

This is the fun part; we meet at your home or in a showroom for the colour consultation. I’ll guide you through all the materials, colours and finishes that will work with the existing (or aspirational) colour palette and style of your home. We confirm the handles, sinks, and tapware.

From this meeting, I produce the project specification and finish schedule and appliance schedule.

4

Site Measure & Ordering

Once the appliances, colours, and cabinetry changes are finalised, we book a site measure with the cabinetry installer before ordering materials.

For makeover installations, Lovett Design only use the experienced, long-serving sub-contractors that we know will do the job. I will meet on-site with the installers and suppliers (e.g. benchtops) to discuss the project before measuring.

If materials and products are in stock at the time of ordering (and I will be able to advise this prior to the site measure) the kitchen makeover work can be started within a few weeks from the measure-up.

5

Install & Project Coordination

We aim for the least amount of disruption to your daily life as possible. If you are not changing the layout of the kitchen, it’s possible to replace the new doors, panels and handles on the same day.

Even new appliances and benchtops can be installed the same day as the old ones are removed, so you hardly lose the function of your kitchen throughout the process.

After designing and managing hundreds of kitchen transformations, I rely on my experience to avoid potential problems and I bring together a team of tradespeople who are well-versed in the makeover process. These relationships are key to the success of the Lovett Design makeovers.

Let’s talk details

Do not settle for just pretty designs; I work hard at making sure every detail has been considered, that they're worth having and that they will stand the test of time.
